Asia is the largest market for beauty personal care ingredients, accounting for 36 per cent of the total volume sales. As increased standards of living drive spending towards beauty products, markets such as China, India, Indonesia, Thailand and South Korea are emerging as powerful players in the global beauty scene. Many personal care companies are expanding their presence in Asia and increasing their R&D footprint to capitalise on the booming personal care market in Asia.

As the Asia-Pacific region is making giant strides in the global cosmetics markets, this year’s in-cosmetics Asia, the largest pan-Asian personal care ingredients event of its kind, is a must-attend event for companies aiming to make a breakthrough into the region.

More than 400 exhibitors from countries including Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and Thailand will be taking part in the event being held from November 4 to 6 in Bangkok, Thailand. The event is not only the perfect platform for businesses to showcase their innovation and expertise, but also for beauty and personal care players to share their insights and learning.

This year there will be new elements such as the Interactive Formulation Lab and the Fragrance Zone offering practical, hands-on education and guidance from some of the industry’s leading experts. The 100 per cent free Educational Programme is also a first, offering visitors the depth and breadth of market insight, advice and expertise to help them to ensure their products are not only in line with consumer trends and expectations, but also meet the increasingly stringent product and ingredient regulations.

After Korea in 2013, the in-cosmetics Asia Country Focus in 2014 will be Japan. With retail value sales units worth US$39 billion, Japan ranks as the world's fourth largest cosmetic market and is renowned for its quality products.

The Japan Country Focus programme is designed to shed light on this fascinating market which enables manufacturers, R&D professionals, cosmetic scientists and marketers to draw inspiration from this beacon of modern beauty.

The Educational Programme at this year’s show includes several new additions. A purpose-built Interactive Formulation Lab, complete with lab equipment is exclusively for formulators, R&D, technicians and chemists.

The new Fragrance Zone will provide a dedicated space where visitors can source fragrance ingredients, as well as discuss the technical challenges involved with adding fragrance to beauty and personal care products.

The perfect launch pad for the latest ingredient creations and the smartest way to source new products on the market is to visit the Innovation Zone, with all products on display either exclusively launched at the show or within eight months of the event.

On the second day of the show, three exhibitors will be crowned winners of the Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Award 2014. The Mintel beauty team will also be on hand for a series of interactive demonstrations, with a special focus on products that promise to protect the skin against the impact of pollution, stress and UV.

Products Trails is a popular feature of in-cosmetics Asia. This year, visitors can use the trails to pinpoint exhibitors in four key categories – Moisturisers, Emulsifiers, Skin-Whitening and Anti-Ageing.

For the first time, COSMEX, the new international exhibition on cosmetics manufacturing, packaging and labelling technologies and OEM/ODM services, will take place alongside in-cosmetics Asia. Bringing together professionals involved with manufacturing, packaging and outsourcing personal care and cosmetics products, COSMEX keeps visitors up-to-date with important developments through its exhibitors and seminar programme.
