Cosmetics Science Conference 2024, a conference on building multidisciplinary networks to drive science & technology in cosmetics was organised by JSS, Division of Cosmetics Science, School of Life Science, Mysuru, recently.
The event was in collaboration with Productdev Edge Private Limited, Bengaluru, and in association with Indian Society of Cosmetic Chemists, along with several cosmetic companies. The inaugural event was held at Sri Rajendra Auditorium at JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. The chief guest, N Ravi Shankar, CEO of Aim High Consulting, a well-known investor, author, and mentor, inaugurated the event along side the guests of honour, Anirudh Ranga, CEO of NESSO, NR Group, Mysuru, and Sudheer Shankar, head of KDEM Mysuru Cluster. During the event, the launch of an AI-assisted product, led by Dr. Simi Sugathan and Dr. Asha Srinivasan, was unveiled by Ranga.
Dr. H Basavanagowdappa, Vice Chancellor of JSS AHER, who presided over the event, emphasised the significance of skin as one of the largest organs and highlighted cosmetics as a rapidly growing field of interest to young minds. In his inaugural address, N Ravi Shankar drew a parallel between the concept of "Satyam Shivam Sundaram" and the principles of health, wellness, and beauty while emphasising on the scope of cosmetic science and integration of technology for entrepreneurial growth. Ranga elaborated on the importance of innovations in the field of cosmetic science and growing technologies empowering cosmetic industry. Prof. Raveesha K. A., the head of School of Life Sciences, delivered the welcome address, followed by an introduction to the conference by Dr. Asha Srinivasan, the organising secretary; Dr. Archer Ann Catherine served as the Master of Ceremony for the event ,while Dr. Raghu Ram Achar proposed vote of thanks. The conference& was set to feature a diverse range of engaging activities and speeches by prominent speakers from cosmetic industry and regulatory bodies. The event was supported by Kumar Organics (Gold Sponsor), Gravity Chemicals and Orah Nutrichem (Bronze Sponsor) and ISCC.
Topics covered in the conference were from various areas of cosmetic development like raw material, formulation, manufacturing of cosmetics to latest technology such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR), 3D bio printing & human skin on chip for toxicology study. The conference led to knowledge sharing and networking between academics and industry.
