The International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF) - World
Congress will be organized by the Indian Pharmaceutical Association –
Students’ Forum (IPA-SF) for the first time in India from July 30 to
August 9, 2015, at Marriot Hotel and Convention Centre, Hyderabad.
The
event represents a confluence of pharmacy students from all over the
world. It is a platform to connect and integrate the diversity in the
world of pharmacy and create an opportunity for generation of new ideas,
blend of cultures and exchange of knowledge. Nearly 500 students and
leaders from about 83 countries will be participating in the Congress.
The
theme for Educational Symposium is “Bridging the Gaps in Current
Pharmacy Education” and for Scientific Symposium is “Catalyzing
Innovation in the Manufacturing and Delivery of Pharmaceutical
Products”. There are additional programmes like Leaders in training
(LIT), IPSF Alumni Reunion and two types of Post Congress Tours.
This
is a global event for the young budding pharmacy students. Hosted for
10 days in a different country each year during July and August, it
provides a platform on which the opinions of the global pharmaceutical
students are exchanged on scientific, educational and cultural planes.
The congress attempts to amalgamate these opinions and information
leading to improvement of pharmaceutical education to create a better
future and brighter prospects for the budding pharmacists, said Neha
Dembla, chairperson, 61st IPSF World Congress.
The 10-day event
focuses on a General Assembly which is led by IPSF executive committee
and works similar to the UN Health Assembly on 7 out of 10 days of the
Congress. There is an education and scientific symposium, besides public
health campaigns, workshops including quiz, industrial visits and an
alumni event, said Dembla.
The World Congress aims to connect and
integrate the diversity in the world of pharmacy and create an
opportunity for generation of new ideas, blend diverse cultures and
knowledge exchange. It is indeed a celebration of pharmacy as a
profession, she added.
