In a move aimed at enhancing the efficiency of export-related processes, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has announced the introduction of two new functionalities for the self-certification of electronic Bank Realisation Certificates (eBRC).
These features, the bulk upload facility and Application Programming Interface (API) integration, will be effective from August 20, 2024.
Building upon the success of the pilot phase initiated last year, the DGFT has now fully integrated banks with the DGFT eBRC system. This integration allows for the automatic transmission of Inward Remittance Messages (IRMs) for all trade account transactions. Exporters can log in to the DGFT website to review IRMs shared by their banks and efficiently self-certify their eBRCs by matching them with the relevant invoice or shipping bill details.
Exporters can now generate multiple eBRCs simultaneously using the new bulk upload functionality. By uploading a spreadsheet containing the necessary IRM mapping along with shipping bill and invoice details, exporters can automate the certification of numerous eBRCs. This feature aims to reduce manual entry errors, enhance efficiency, and streamline the management of eBRC self-certification documentation.
The newly introduced API integration allows exporters to interface their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), accounting, or other software systems directly with the DGFT eBRC system in near real-time. This API will enable the retrieval of IRM/ORM data from the DGFT systems and facilitate the request and verification of eBRCs securely and swiftly.
Exporters are required to complete an online registration process for API integration, specifying the Importer Exporter Code (IEC) for which the API will be used. Exporters will also manage API consumer access, including activation, deactivation, and re-authorization, ensuring secure interaction with DGFT systems.
To promote awareness and demonstrate the new eBRC capabilities, DGFT Regional Authorities will host Exporter Outreach Programs. User manuals and detailed guidance on eBRC generation and validation rules are available on the DGFT website. Stakeholders are encouraged to provide feedback via email and can seek assistance through the DGFT Helpdesk.
This initiative is part of the DGFT's ongoing efforts to streamline operations, reduce complexity, and improve the ease of doing business, empowering exporters to focus on growth.
