The fast developing Hyderabad Pharma City is incorporating all the facilities not just for the research and development and manufacturing, but it is also expected to provide end-to-end facilities for the pharma exporters.

According to Jayesh Ranjan, principal secretary, Industries and Commerce, government of Telangana, the first phase of Pharma City project is fast developing and is incorporating all the necessary infrastructure facilities not just for the research and development of pharma and biotechnology firms but at the same time the essential facilities needed by exporters.

“The Hyderabad Pharma City project is a flagship project of Telangana state as far as industries is concerned. This project will definitely give a big boost to pharma exports and accordingly end-to-end facilities are being developed in the Pharma City to facilitate the exporters,” said Ranjan.

The state government of Telangana is developing the Hyderabad Pharma City as a world class sustainable industrial cluster. This project is coming up over more than 19,000 acres of land near Muccherla village in Rangareddy district on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

Already more than 90 per cent of land acquisition has been completed and the first phase works of the project are taken up over more than 8,000 acres.

The Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) which is bestowed with the responsibility of developing basic facilities like roads, erection of electric lines, drainages and common effluent treatment plants, has already installed these facilities to accommodate more than 150 companies in the first phase where the companies can carry out their operations in a plug and play mode.

With an aim to adhere to the all necessary pollution control norms strictly at the Pharma City project, the Telangana state government has directed the TSIIC to set up Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) based Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP). The estimated cost of setting up of the ZLD based CETP is set at Rs. 500 crore and the TSIIC has decided to build the CETP under the public private partnership (PPP) mode.

Under phase I, TSIIC is undertaking the development, operation and maintenance of 7.5 MLD ZLD-based CETP on design, build, finance, operate and transfer basis.

Adding further Ranjan said that exporters play a crucial role in achieving higher growth in gross domestic product of Indian economy and to facilitate them he said the state government is taking all necessary care to build sufficient infrastructure facilities for the exporters.

Pharmexcil director general also felt that Hyderabad was called earlier called as bulk drug capital of India, is now being transformed into vaccine manufacturing capital of the country and it is expected that Hyderabad will lead in exporting highest doses of vaccine from the country to the globe. “India has so far supplied 66 crore doses of vaccines to over 95 countries, out of top 20 global pharma companies, eight are from India including two from Hyderabad. With Pharma City project becoming fully functional, definitely it will give a big boost to the exporters,” observed the Pharmexcil DG.
