The Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) has urged its member companies with operations in Latin American Countries (LAC) or those interested in expanding their businesses in the region to send their expression of interest (EOI) to export levothyroxine and levonorgestrel from India.
Pharmexcil has received communication from the Indian Embassy in Guatemala stating that Winn Farma, a Guatemalan pharmaceutical company, intends to import levothyroxine and levonorgestrel from India. The company has been in the market for the past two years, and sells in community pharmacies as well as in chain pharmacies.
“Pharmexcil has been collaborating closely with our embassies overseas to promote Indian medicines and enable trade inquiries for the advantage of the Indian pharmaceutical sector,” informed Pharmexcil director general Udaya Bhaskar.
“Member companies with operations in LAC or those interested in expanding their businesses in the region are urged to send in their (1) expression of interest with their coordinates and (2) company brochure in an email to Mr Diego Torres, director general, Winn Farma (Email: distribuidorawinn@gmail.com at the latest and (3) clearly indicate their willingness to export which of the aforementioned products,” according to a Pharmexcil circular.
Levothyroxine injection is used to treat myxedema coma (severe hypothyroidism), a condition where the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone. The powder form of levothyroxine injection can be used as a substitute for the oral dose when a rapid effect is needed and when the oral route is not allowed. This medicine is to be given only by or under the supervision of your doctor.
Levonorgestrel is an emergency contraceptive that is used to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or after failure of another birth control method. It works by preventing a woman's egg from fully developing. It may also prevent the attachment of the woman's egg to the wall of the uterus (womb).
