Between October 23 and 25, 2014, Aries would organise the seventh essay
of TriestEspresso Expo, a fair devoted exclusively to espresso coffee.
It would have a host of conferences, workshops and tastings, in addition
to the showcasing of blends, coffee machines, exhibits and accessories.
“I
am very happy to be attending the TriestEspresso Expo as executive
director, International Coffee Organisation (ICO),” stated Robeiro
Oliveira Silva.
“Italy, a country that has contributed so much to
the history of coffee, is a very active member of the ICO, and would be
hosting the upcoming Global Coffee Forum in September 2015,” he added.
“I
thank the organisers of TriestEspresso for the invitation, and look
forward to joining coffee professionals from all over the world to
celebrate the culture of espresso,” Silva said.
The opening
conference is slated to take place at 10am on October 23. At this
conference, Silva would speak on the outlook for next year's coffee
production.
At 4:30pm the following day, there would be a
discussion in the conference hall on the candidature of espresso coffee
as a UNESCO intangible asset, a goal for which the Consortium for the
Protection of Traditional Italian Espresso Coffee, consisting of
important Italian brands in the sector, has begun working.
Those
who want to acquire skills and knowledge of this product will be able to
follow the workshops and training sessions of the Specialty Coffee
Association Europe (SCAE), which has planned, among others, modules on
‘How to taste coffees (basic and advanced)’, ‘How to handle the roasting
curve’, and ‘How to roast espresso coffee’.
To test your coffee
tasting skills, you can try to recognise the various aromas in a cup of
coffee at the Italian Federation of Businesses Open to the Public (FIPE)
tasting bar, where by filling in a form you will be able to contribute
to a survey carried out in collaboration with the Italian Tasters-Centro
Studi Assaggiatori, whose mission is to highlight the knowledge of the
espresso coffee consumer.
Cup tasting would also be the focus of one of the illycaffè presentations for TriestEspresso.
The
company that represents quality Italian coffee in the world, with its
headquarters in Trieste, has planned, with its University of Coffee, a
programme of meetings that would take place over the three days of the
fair both at the illycaffè stand and in the Hydrodynamic Station
Pavilion.
There would be guided tours of the city's historical
cafés, and I drink quality coffee by Andrej Godina and Francesco Sanapo
at Caffè San Marco.
Another highlight is the special tasting in
the Grotta Gigante (one of the largest tourist caves in the world). This
is an initiative of the Trieste Coffee Association and the Trieste
Coffee Cluster in the city centre.
These initiatives are designed
to involve the public in celebrating espresso coffee, and to get the
trade visitors to enjoy the aroma of coffee even outside the exhibition
spaces of the Old Port of Trieste.
