As the countdown begins for the 11th edition of Pharmac South 2026 at the Chennai Trade Centre, the upcoming two-day event is drawing intense industry focus toward its high-level technical seminars and regulatory dialogues designed to reshape the southern pharma MSME sector.
Moving beyond the initial announcements of its scheduled June 4 commencement and the inaugural address by Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) Dr. Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, the expo is being anchored as a critical knowledge-sharing platform. Jointly organized by the Tamil Nadu state board of the Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA) and Orbit Exhibitors, Mumbai, this edition shifts the spotlight onto actionable industry solutions, regulatory compliance, and market survival strategies for small and medium enterprises in a rapidly evolving national pharmaceutical landscape.
According to Rupen Vikamsey, managing director of Orbit Exhibitors, the total number of stalls and participating companies has surpassed all previous benchmarks. Moving well beyond the 125 domestic companies that marked the 2025 expo, the 2026 floor layout has been expanded to accommodate over 150 exhibiting companies, a milestone that organizers view as a crucial step toward elevating Pharmac South into an international-level pharmaceutical exposition.
Responding to queries from Pharmabiz, J Jayaseelan, chairman of the IDMA Tamil Nadu State Board, observed that this massive gathering of machinery manufacturers, raw material suppliers, and formulation players acts as a vital bridge to foster a self-reliant manufacturing ecosystem right here in the southern hub.
The structural blueprint of the two-day seminar programme has been deliberately designed to split its focus between high-level regulatory governance and modern corporate strategy. Day one kicks off with a high-powered morning session running from 10.30 am to 12.00 pm, dedicated entirely to an inauguration ceremony featuring top-tier national and state regulators.
Driven by the presence of chief guest Dr Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, DCGI, alongside M Rajsekhar, Deputy Drugs Controller (India) from the CDSCO, and S. Gurubharathi, joint director of Drugs Control for Tamil Nadu, this opening block gives local manufacturers a direct chance to understand and follow the changing government rules.
Immediately following the regulatory inauguration, the midday slot on June 4 transitions from policy to operational execution. From 12 pm to 12.30 pm, business mentor Sivakumar Bellan of Simple and Smart Solutions will step up to deliver a targeted session on 'Strategic Thinking and Visionary Leadership,' aiming to arm MSME entrepreneurs with the corporate foresight needed to scale up. This quick, high-impact module sets the stage for a broader shift in how small-to-medium scale manufacturers evaluate their long-term business continuity and leadership structures.
The afternoon of the opening day shifts the spotlight completely onto commercial viability and regional brand equity. Reconvening after lunch from 2.30 pm to 4 pm, the event will host the IDMA TNKKSB and PRONTO Brand Awards function, a segment explicitly designed to recognize excellence in the field. This ceremony will be anchored by a specialized presentation titled 'The Trust Economy of South India Healthcare,' delivered by Dr. Hari Natarajan and Dr. Karishma Atul Shah, the founders and managing partners of Pronto Consult, who will dissect how domestic firms can transition from traditional third-party manufacturing into recognizable, resilient brands.
June 5 agenda pivots the discourse toward international market dynamics and stringent quality benchmarks during its morning lineup. The first session, starting at 10.30 am and concluding at 11.30 am, features Raja Bhanu, Director General of Pharmexcil, who will break down global trade routes in a presentation titled 'Pharma Exports in a Changing Global Landscape -- Challenges, Opportunities, and the Role of Pharmexcil.' This will be immediately followed from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm by Dr. Kalaiselvan of the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), who will explain the latest regulatory standards under the topic 'IP 2026 – An Ecosystem for Strengthening the Quality of Pharmaceuticals,' ensuring domestic makers remain compliant with global monographs.
The final leg of the two-day conference concludes on Friday afternoon with a dedicated, non-technical module focused entirely on human capital and soft skills. From 2.30 pm to 4 pm, the post-lunch speaker session features two back-to-back corporate keynotes designed to round out the capabilities of next-generation pharma professionals. Renowned influencer and TV personality Bharathi Bhaskar will first address the vital theme of 'Negotiation Skills,' followed by a strategic session on 'Brand Marketing' led by Sujith Kumar J, motivational speaker and founder of the Maatram Foundation, concluding the 11th edition with a holistic emphasis on modern managerial excellence.
