The 12th annual general body meeting (AGM) and annual conference of the
Trichy based Consortium of Indian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and
Marketers Association (CIPMMA) in Tamil Nadu will be held on 15th and
16th June at Swamimalai in Kumbhakonam district.
In the general
body meeting, new office-bearers for the Consortium will be elected for
the next three years tenure. CIPMMA is an organization of pharmaceutical
marketers and manufacturers with branches across Tamil Nadu.
This
year, along with discussions, seminars and debates, the association
will hold one motivational business session for its members and for
those aspiring pharma marketers. On the second day afternoon, industry
motivational speaker Paraman Pachamuthu will address the audience.
The
organizers have invited the director of state drugs control department,
K Sivabalan, as chief guest to the annual conference which is scheduled
as the first programme on the second day. Dr. L Ramanathan from the
regulatory affairs division of the Apex Lab will be the guest of honour.
He will deliver a speech on ‘Current status on drugs and FSSAI'.
On
the first day on June 15, the general body meeting will be held in
which organizational matters will be discussed. Office-bearers of all
districts will attend the meeting, and the end new office-bearers will
be elected.
A Kannan, chairman of the High Power Committee (HPC),
said this year’s AGM and the annual conference will discuss myriad
issues affecting the pharmaceutical marketing and manufacturing,
especially small scale units. The department of pharmaceuticals,
government of India, is issuing various orders every now and then in
terms of marketing, labeling, packing etc. This often badly affects the
business prospects of the marketing people. The general body of CIPMMA
will pass a resolution and forward the same to the government.
Trichi
Manoharan, president of Tamil Nadu Chemists and Druggists Association
(TNCDA) said since the AGM of CIPMMA is held near Trichy he will attend
the general conference of the marketers.
He said he held several
round of talks with CIPMMA leaders to solve the long standing issue of
profit margin hike and now everything has been solved. The members of
TNCDA were demanding a hike in profit margin from the marketers who were
unwilling to review their stance which had made the chemists &
druggists to revolt against CIPMMA. The new president of the TNCDA has
now settled the issue with the marketers, said Manoharan.
However,
this issue of trade margin will become a subject of hot discussion in
the AGM of CIPMMA this year as many of the marketers do not want to hike
the existing margin, sources from the marketers body informed.
