Export of Ayush and herbal products has reported a marginal growth of 0.5 per cent during the month of May, as compared to almost 1 per cent growth on a Year-over-year (YoY) basis, reported in the same month a year ago.

Cumulative exports during the first two months of the fiscal year has registered 7.4 per cent growth as compared to the same period of last year, according to data from the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S)

Exports during the month of May, 2025, was at $60.6 million, as compared to $60.3 million in the same month of previous fiscal year. The growth in May, 2024, was around 1 per cent from $59.7 million in May, 2023.

In Rupee terms, exports of Ayush and herbal products have reported 2.6 per cent growth in May, this year, at Rs. 516.2 crore, as compared to Rs. 503.1 crore registered in the same month, last year.

The monthly exports in May reported weak growth compared to the YoY growth of 15.61 per cent registered in Dollar terms and 18.6 per cent in rupee terms in the month of April, 2025, as compared to the corresponding month of the previous fiscal year.

The first two months of the current fiscal year have reported an exports of $120.07 million as compared to $111.77 million in April-May months of previous fiscal year.

In terms of quantity, the exports of Ayush and herbal products registered 11.8 per cent growth in May, 2025. Exports during the month of May, 2025 was 12,056 metric tonne as compared to 10,786 metric tonne during the same period of previous fiscal year.

For the first two months of the fiscal year, the quantity of exports grew 11.8 per cent to 22,700 metric tonne from 20,305 metric tonne for the same two months of previous fiscal year.

As reported earlier, the exports of Ayush and herbal products from India during the fiscal year 2024-25 grew 5.86 per cent, with the quantity growing almost 21.46 per cent as compared to the previous fiscal year.

The exports during the fiscal year 2024-25 stood at $689.34 million, as compared to $651.17 million reported in the previous fiscal year.

The quantity during FY25 grew to 1,28,738 MT, as against 1,05,984 MT exported in the previous fiscal year.

Exports reported a growth of 3.6 per cent during the fiscal year 2023-24, at $651.17 million as compared to the same period of previous year. During 2022-23, the exports was $628.54 million. The year 2022-23 registered a growth of 2.68 per cent in exports, from $612.12 million in the previous year.

The Ministry of Ayush has established Ayush Export Promotion Council (Ayushexcil) to promote Ayush products and services globally by the Ministry of Ayush and supported by the Union ministry of commerce. It was officially launched at Global Ayush Investment and Innovation Summit held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat on April 20, 2022, and aimed to oversee exports of products of Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Siddha, Sowa/Rigpa and Unani systems and address trade issues pertaining to these sectors.
