Exports of Ayush and herbal products during the first month of the current fiscal year have reported a decline of 13%, while imports increased 41.3% compared to the same month of the previous fiscal year.

The exports of Ayush and herbal products during the month of April, 2026 stood at $51.7 million as compared to $59.5 million reported during the same month of previous fiscal year.

In rupee terms, exports declined 4.9% to Rs. 484.08 crore during the month of April, as compared to Rs. 508.86 crore reported in the same month of previous fiscal year.

Quantity of exports reported a growth of 9.45% during the month, at 11,650.7 MT as against 10,644.5 MT during the same month of last year.

Imports, on the other hand, registered a 41.3% growth to $20.02 million, compared to $14.17 million during the same month of FY2025.

In rupee terms, imports grew 54.5% to Rs. 187.3 crore from Rs. 121.24 crore worth of imports reported during April, 2025. Quantity of imports grew 4% to 10,286. MT during the month of April, 2026, as compared to 9,887.3 MT in the same month last year.

As reported earlier, exports of Ayush and herbal products from the country have seen a decline of 7.34% and stood at $638.71 million in 2025-26, as compared to $689.31 million in the previous fiscal year.

In rupee terms, this was a 3.3% decline to Rs. 5,639.2 crore in 2025-26, as against Rs. 5,831.18 crore during the 12 months of previous fiscal year. In terms of quantity, there was a decline to 1,26,275.7 MT during the fiscal year, as against 1,28,475.5 MT during the previous year.

Imports grew 22% during the fiscal year in value and 13.8% in terms of quantity, according to preliminary data from the ministry of commerce and industry.

It may be noted that the exports during the fiscal year 2024-25 grew 5.86%, with the quantity growing almost 21.46% as compared to the previous fiscal year.

According to data from the ministry of commerce and industry, the exports of Ayush and herbal products during the fiscal year 2024-25 stood at $689.3 million, as compared to $651.17 million reported during the previous fiscal year.

The quantity during FY25 grew to 1,28,738 MT, as against 1,05,984 MT exported in the previous fiscal year.

In rupee terms, the growth was around 8% to Rs. 5,831.4 crore during the fiscal year, as against Rs. 5,391.42 crore during the previous fiscal year.

The Ministry of Ayush has established Ayush Export Promotion Council (Ayushexcil) to promote Ayush products and services globally by the Ministry of Ayush and supported by the Union ministry of commerce. It was officially launched at Global Ayush Investment and Innovation Summit held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat on April 20, 2022, and aimed to oversee exports of products of Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Siddha, Sowa/Rigpa and Unani systems and address trade issues pertaining to these sectors.
