The curtain is all set to go up tomorrow for the highly anticipated 11th edition of the Pharmac South 2026 Expo at the Chennai Trade Centre in Nandambakkam, near Guindy.

Scheduled to run from June 4 to 5, the flagship trade show stands as South India’s premier high-powered exhibition and conference dedicated to the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and contract manufacturing sectors. This year's mega event is focused on empowering the industry through breakthrough innovations, automation, and sustainable growth strategies.

The two-day event is expected to attract a massive turnout of more than 10,000 visitors from across South India. Leading pharmaceutical industry stalwarts, manufacturing experts, and major trade leaders from all the southern states are converging on Chennai to explore new business avenues. The exhibition floor will feature a robust presence of exhibitors from across the entire country, showcasing the latest advancements from formulation manufacturers, raw material manufacturers and suppliers, alongside cutting-edge solutions from manufacturers and suppliers of heavy machinery and laboratory equipment.

Adding immense regulatory weight to the event, all central and state regulatory officers from the southern zones will attend the parallel two-day conferences as VIP guests. This year’s expo features two distinct, high-profile inaugurations to kickstart the programmes. The Exhibition will be officially inaugurated by the Special Guest of Honour, Dr Darez Ahamed, Secretary to Government, Health and Family Welfare Department, Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, the prestigious Conference Session will be inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI).

The exhaustive two-day program schedule is packed with informative sessions. Day 1 (June 4) begins with the Inaugural Session from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, featuring a welcome address by J Jayaseelan, chairman, TN IDMA, and an industry overview by Dr S V Veeramani (past national president, IDMA). Key addresses will be delivered by Dr George Patani (sr vice president, IDMA National), Dr.T S Parmar (secretary general, IDMA National), S. Gurubharathi (Joint director of Drugs Control, Tamil Nadu), and Rajsekhar (Deputy Drugs Controller, CDSCO South Zone), followed by speeches from the DCGI and the Health Secretary, concluding with a vote of thanks by S Sivanandhan (Hon secretary, IDMA).

The afternoon session from 2.30 p.m. to 4 p.m. will witness the IDMA TNPKSB and PRONTO Brand Awards function, highlighting ‘The Trust Economy of South India Healthcare’ by Dr Hari Natarajan and Dr Karishma Atul Shah (Founders and Managing Partners, Pronto Consult), followed by a session on ‘Strategic thinking and Visionary Leadership’ by business mentor Sivakumar Bellan.

Day 2 (June 5) continues with a stellar lineup of technical and motivational deliberations. The morning session from 10 a.m. to 12 noon focuses heavily on compliance and global trade, starting with a presentation on ‘Pharma Exports in a Changing Global Landscape - Challenges, Opportunities, and the Role of Pharmexcil’ by K. Raja Bhanu (director general, Pharmexcil). This will be followed by a critical technical lecture on ‘IP 2026 – An Ecosystem for Strengthening the Quality of Pharmaceuticals’ by Dr. V. Kalaiselvan (secretary-cum-scientific director, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission), chaired by Dr P Manavalan (deputy drugs controller, CDSCO Seaport and Airport, Chennai).

The final afternoon session on June 5, running from 2.30 p.m. to 4 p.m., shifts toward professional development and market strategy, chaired by M Rajarathinam (past chairman, TN IDMA). It features a session on ‘Negotiation Skills’ by celebrated influencer and TV personality Bharathi Bhaskar, followed by an insightful talk on ‘Brand Marketing’ by Sujith Kumar J, founder, Maatram Foundation.

Expressing high optimism for the mega event, TN IDMA chairman J. Jayaseelan and past national president Dr S V Veeramani said that Pharmac South 2026 has now evolved into a vital convergence ecosystem. They emphasized that the platform will immensely help pharmaceutical manufacturers, marketers, and allied industries to grow further, develop, and expand their business activities across the entirety of India.
