Manjushree Technopack Ltd, one of South-East Asia’s largest PET and
preform manufacturers, bagged India Star awards for 2013-14 (in the
consumer packaged product design category) for the designs it created
for three food and beverage majors - Coca-Cola, United Spirits Limited
and Nambisans.
When the cola major decided to adopt PET
packaging for its contour glass, it teamed up with Manjushree to develop
a packaging that, alongside retaining the legacy, would also lure new
customers. The Coca-Cola PET contour glass not only reinforces the
brand’s value, but also delivers a premium perception.
Manjushree
developed a two-litre liquor PET bottle with a handle for United
Spirits Limited as a party pack for retail sales. Its uniqueness was in
the external handle (which makes the drink easy to dispense) and the 100
per cent tamper-proof Guala cap closure fitment. It is lightweight,
unbreakable, easy to lift and consumer-friendly.
Nambisans
approached Manjushree to create a design that would the ghee help stand
out. It designed a bell-shaped PET jar, breaking away from the round
jars. Nambisans’ PET jar had no sleeve and enabled attractive labelling.
The
awards, which were instituted by the Indian Institute of Packaging
(IIP), qualify the company (which, according to its managing director,
Vimal Kedia, has now bagged 24 India Star awards in six years) to
participate in Asia Star and World Star Awards, instituted by the World
Packaging Organisation.
