The Tamil Nadu board of the Indian Drug Manufacturers Association (TN IDMA) has announced that the10th edition of the South Indian Pharmaceutical Expo, Pharmac South 2025, will take place from July 4 to 5 at the Chennai Trade Centre.

This year’s event is set to be bigger and more impactful than ever, with special emphasis on supporting MSME participants.

Dr S V Veeramani, advisor to the organizing committee and former IDMA president, highlighted that the organizers are ‘pulling out all the stops’ for this significant 10th anniversary. He confirmed that securing exhibitor stalls is proving seamless, largely due to a key government incentive of reimbursement of stall fees and other participation expenses for MSME sector members.

This year, a major advantage for participating MSME sector exhibitors is the reimbursement of up to 90 per cent of their total expenses, including stall fees and applicable GST, through existing government schemes. The Ministry of MSME's Procurement and Marketing Support (PMS) Scheme is actively providing this support.

For domestic exhibitions like Pharmac South, general category MSME participants will receive an 80 per cent reimbursement on their stall rental charges and GST. This means an exhibitor booking a Rs. 1 lakh stall will effectively spend only around Rs. 20,000 from their own pocket, he said.

Even more significantly, MSMEs owned by women, Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) entrepreneurs from the North Eastern Region, or persons with disabilities, as well as those from aspirational districts, will qualify for up to 100 per cent reimbursement of their stall rental charges.

J Jayaseelan, chairman of TN IDMA, anticipates the 10th-anniversary exhibition will host over 200 exhibitors and attract 15,000 visitors from across the country, showcasing a vast array of pharmaceutical products and machinery. The event has already seen such high demand that the exhibition area at the Chennai Trade Centre has been expanded to accommodate all registered exhibitors, ensuring ample display spaces.

Beyond the extensive exhibition, Pharmac South 2025 will run a parallel programme of valuable educational content. This includes various seminars, talk shows, motivation classes, and leadership classes designed to benefit entrepreneurs. A dedicated session is also planned for updating MSME units on crucial Schedule M compliance.

With visitors expected from neighbouring states including Kerala, Karnataka, Pondicherry, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, TN IDMA believes this trade fair will be immensely beneficial for South Indian pharma manufacturers and new entrepreneurs looking to strengthen their presence in the market.
