Pharmexcil’s programme on intl trade certification to help industry explore overseas markets: Udaya Bhaskar

Pharma industry experts and participants were immensely benefited with knowledge about the international markets with successful completion of the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil)’s Management Development Programme (MDP) on International Trade Certification, said Udaya Bhaskar, director general, Pharmexcil.
The programme is very significant as pharma exports stood at US$ 24.62 billion in FY 2021-22 and is projected to grow upto US$ 80 billion by 2030. There are 500 API manufacturers contributing about 8% in the global API industry.
India accounts for 52% exports to Europe and the US and 55% to highly regulated markets. It has been registering a sustained growth rate of 18% over the past three years.
Inaugurated by Udaya Bhaskar at the regional office in Mumbai, the first of its kind program started in the month of January, 2023 and was attended by over 20 professionals from pharma industry and export businesses. Its duration was 32 hours spread over eight weekends.
According to the programme director Sumanta Choudhury, “The programme is a part of India’s ongoing efforts towards accelerating and facilitating bilateral trade with the emerging and regulated markets. The course was well designed aiming at the entrepreneurs, professionals and students engaged in the pharmaceutical industry ensuring good understanding about Regulatory process, International Trade Finance, Marketing principles, Import and Export Logistics, Intellectual Property Rights, Foreign Trade Policy, Credit Insurance and regional treaties.”
“Training faculties who were experts and experienced in their respective domain made eloquent audio visual presentations supported by rapid fire sessions, group discussions. At the end of the program, participants expressed deep satisfaction for content, design and the methods of training,” Choudhury added.
Speaking about the successful completion of the programme, Udaya Bhaskar concluded that the programme will go a long way in helping Indian exporters understand the drug supply chain, disease profile and the industry players of the exporting countries.
