Tata Swach launched two water purifiers, Viva Silver ultra-violet
(UV)+ultra-filtration (UF) and Nova Silver reverse osmosis (RO) in
Mumbai and Pune. It would be launched in phases across the country.
It is the first range of water purifiers in India to be equipped with the Silver Action Inside technology.
The
technique of silver impregnation prevents the bio-fouling of the
granular activated carbon (GAC) cartridge, and increases the life of the
purifier.
Priced at Rs 7,999, Viva Silver ultra-violet
(UV)+ultra-filtration (UF) has a storage capacity of six litres of
water, and a concealed tank, which minimises potential contamination.
It
is equipped with a UF membrane, and purifies water at the rate of upto
30 litres per hour. There is a year’s warranty on the full unit.
The
double protection of UV+UF acts as a tough shield from bacteria,
viruses and cysts as per the United States Environmental Protection
Agency (USEPA) norms.
The Tata Swach Nova purifier is suited to
areas where the tap water contains higher levels of total dissolved
solids (TDS). It is equipped with a membrane approved by the United
States’ National Science Foundation (NSF).
It has a storage
capacity of four litres, a purification rate of upto eight litres per
hour, and a year’s warranty on the full unit. It is priced at Rs
10,499.
Richa Arora, chief operating officer, Consumer Product
Business, Tata Chemicals, said, “India faces an enormous challenge in
providing its citizens with clean potable water free from bacteria and
viruses which is the cause of a number of diseases.”
“Tata Swach
purifiers use silver to make safe drinking water accessible to a
greater number of people across the country,” she added.
