TN IDMA plans to hold next edition of Pharmac South in March-April, 2022 in Chennai

Since Covid 19 infection rates and hospitalizations began to decline across the country and trade shows and exhibitions have started to take off in various cities, the pharmaceutical industry in Tamil Nadu is pondering over holding south India’s major pharmaceutical and neutraceutical trade expo, Pharmac South, in 2022.
If the trade fair of pharmaceutical products and machinery is conducted next year, it will be the sixth expo in the series. The last one was held in Chennai Trade Centre on June 28 and 29, 2019.
Because of the unprecedented global health crisis, the product and machinery exhibition from pharma and allied industry had come to a halt in 2020, hence the sixth and seventh in the series, which would have been conducted in 2020 and 2021, had to be cancelled. “This year if there is no covid related issues, we will plan for the next edition which is very much supportive for the pharma industry’s growth’, says S V Veeramani, an industry leader and former president of the IDMA.
The organizer of the event, Orbit Exhibitions Pvt Ltd in Mumbai is in discussion with the Tamil Nadu branch of the Indian Drugs Manufacturers Association (TN IDMA) and with the technology suppliers for pharma sector across the country for restarting the exhibition from next year onwards. The program used to be conducted by Orbit Exhibitions since it was started in 2015.
J Jayaseelan, chairman of TN IDMA said provided the state government gives permission to hold the programme, it will be definitely conducted. He said the event management team in Mumbai has started communication with the client-participants who include brand managers of formulation companies, API manufacturers, neutraceutical product makers and captains of pharma technologies. Companies from across the country will showcase their latest products and services in the exhibition which will hopefully be held in March or April in 2022.
When Pharmabiz contacted Varsha Surve, the coordinator of Orbit Exhibitions in Mumbai, she said all the trade expos and other events have restarted, so Pharmac South can be conducted without any hurdle. The 2021 edition of the CPhI is going to take place in Greater Noida from November 24 to 26 this year and it will create a confidence among the industry professionals for return to the marketplace for a better exhibition of their products, she told Pharmabiz.
