Government of Andhra Pradesh will favourably consider the requests made by the Chennai based multi-state cooperative society, the Indian Medical Practitioners Co-operative Pharmacy and Stores Ltd (Impcops) in shoring up their business activities in AP at a time when the Covid pandemic is threatening the country for the fourth time, the minister for animal husbandry and dairy development has assured.
 
Impcops’ traditional medicine ‘Kabasura Kudineer’ had high demand even in Andhra Pradesh during the first and second waves of the Covid pandemic.
 
“The government will provide all support to Impcops complying with the rules and regulations of the state government”, said Dr. Seediri Appala Raju, the minister who inaugurated the opening ceremony of the Impcop’s new manufacturing unit at Tadepalli near Vijayawada.
 
After the inaugural speech, the minister also released Ayush veterinary medicines manufactured by Impcops for marketing in Telangana and AP. This is the first time the society has entered into the production of medicines for animals and birds.
 
The commissioner of Ayush, government of AP, Colonel V Ramulu who was also present in the function, said the department of ISM will take the request of Impcops to the government and try to provide all support to them. 
 
Impcops has requested the AP government to procure Ayush medicines from its depot in Vijayawada to supply to the government dispensaries and hospitals in Andhra Pradesh. Further, it requested the ESI Corporation in AP and the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) to purchase medicines from its depots for their supplies to the hospitals. Senior officers from ESIC and TTD were also present at the inaugural session.
 
Dr. R Kannan, president of the Impcops, while welcoming the dignitaries said Impcops is manufacturing quality medicines with good raw materials collected from medicinal plant cultivators in Tamil Nadu. The society will not make any compromise on quality, so the AP government can fully trust on it. In the Tadepalli unit, Ayurveda and veterinary medicines will be manufactured and marketed to all south Indian states.
 
Praising the efforts taken by Dr R Kannan to expand the activities of Impcops to other states, Dr. TT Narayan, secretary of the Centre for Traditional Medicines and Research (CTMR) in Chennai said Dr. Kannan and other directors are taking progressive programmes and initiatives because the election of the society is around the corner. There are four directors to the society from Andhra Pradesh and one each from Pondicherry and Karnataka. Kannan expects the support of these directors as he wants to become the president of Impcops once again. The election will be held in May this year.
