According to her, natural variability remains one of the biggest challenges in herbal manufacturing. Unlike synthetic molecules, herbal ingredients are influenced by seasonality, geographical origin, cultivation practices, climate, soil conditions, harvest timing and post-harvest handling. These factors can significantly alter phytochemical composition and make consistency difficult to maintain. Adulteration and species substitution are other key concerns, particularly across fragmented and multi-tiered supply chains. Tahira highlighted the need for rigorous botanical identification and robust quality control throughout the sourcing process. She also pointed to an analytical gap caused by limited access to advanced instrumentation, validated testing methodologies and harmonised quality standards. At Greenspace Herbs, she said, dedicated research and quality laboratories use advanced analytical technologies and validated testing protocols to establish the authenticity, consistency and quality of ingredients and finished formulations. Tahira said Greenspace Herbs differentiates itself by treating herbal ingredients as subjects of scientific investigation rather than relying solely on traditional knowledge. The company focuses on understanding bioactive phytocompounds, their mechanisms of action and their efficacy through scientific and clinical research. Its Quantum Ayurveda platform combines Ayurvedic botanical knowledge with analytical science, artificial intelligence, quantum chemistry and quantum physics to identify promising botanical leads and optimise ingredient performance. The company aims to validate ingredients and formulations through preclinical and clinical research, with a focus on establishing evidence around safety, efficacy and measurable outcomes. “Rather than relying solely on traditional knowledge or theoretical concepts, we are committed to generating credible scientific evidence that demonstrates safety, efficacy, and measurable clinical outcomes,” Tahira said. Greenspace Herbs follows WHO-GMP manufacturing standards and adheres to applicable FSSAI and Ayurveda Aahara regulatory frameworks. Its sourcing practices are based on Good Agricultural and Collection Practices (GACP), while its environmental, health and safety systems are aligned with recognised ISO standards. Tahira said every product is supported by documentation including a Certificate of Analysis and Material Safety Data Sheet. The company's extracts are tested for heavy metals, residual solvents, aflatoxins and pesticide residues. For its Quantum Ayurveda range, the company adds specification based on an instrument-readable energy state, which is recorded on the Certificate of Analysis to support batch-to-batch consistency alongside conventional chemical parameters. Traceability begins at the source, with raw herbs subjected to macroscopic and microscopic botanical identification in line with standards of the Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia and Indian Pharmacopoeia. Materials are authenticated at species level and assessed for adulteration, substitution, foreign matter and key bioactive compounds. Every batch subsequently undergoes analytical testing, including HPTLC and HPLC, for chemical fingerprinting, identity confirmation and marker-compound quantification. Complete traceability documentation enables the company to link finished products with their botanical origin, processing history and analytical records. Greenspace Herbs follows a problem-led and evidence-led approach to new product development, targeting areas such as metabolic health, women's health, gut-brain balance, joint health and nerve comfort. The company uses AI-assisted literature reviews and scientist-led research to examine phytochemical interactions, extraction methods and active principles before moving products into formulation. Candidate ingredients and blends are then subjected to analytical characterisation and, where appropriate, clinical programmes. Tahira said the company currently has poly-blend clinical research underway alongside single-ingredient programmes involving curcumin, berberine and ashwagandha. Early findings, she said, indicate improvements in bioavailability and measurable cellular-level effects. According to Tahira, innovation is central to Greenspace Herbs' growth strategy as the herbal ingredients industry shifts from a focus on availability and cost towards verified identity, measurable quality and reliable outcomes. The company's Quantum Ayurveda platform is a key part of this strategy. It uses calibrated light and magnetic fields to prime selected herbal actives into a stable, verifiable state while maintaining their chemical composition. The resulting state is then confirmed non-destructively and recorded as a specification. Alongside this technology, Greenspace Herbs is investing in clinical validation, analytical capabilities and next-generation botanical actives. Tahira said these investments are intended to create greater differentiation between evidence-backed ingredients and commodity products. Tahira identified prevention and self-care, evidence-based standardisation and regulatory maturation as three major trends shaping the herbal and nutraceutical industry. Consumers are increasingly seeking targeted solutions for gut health, metabolism, stress and sleep, driving demand for functional formulations. At the same time, expectations around potency, traceability, clean-label positioning and detailed ingredient specifications are increasing. She said regulatory developments, including the Ayurveda Aahara framework, are also helping professionalise the sector and strengthen consumer confidence. Ingredients such as ashwagandha, curcumin and berberine, along with traditional botanicals including Boswellia, Bacopa, Amla, Shatavari and Tulsi, are expected to remain important growth drivers. Greenspace Herbs plans to expand both its domestic and international presence. In India, the company sees opportunities in metabolic health, women's health and gut-brain formulations, with several products being developed as India-first launches. Internationally, the company is witnessing demand from the United States, European Union, Middle East and Southeast Asia. It plans to accelerate expansion through export-focused partnerships and alignment with globally recognised evidence initiatives. Tahira said the common requirements across these markets—including clean-label products, clinical alignment, traceability and well-specified botanicals—align closely with the company's product development strategy. “Our ambition is to help make Indian botanicals a global gold standard,” she said. Greenspace Herbs views regulatory compliance as an ongoing discipline rather than a reactive requirement. Tahira noted that India's nutraceutical sector continues to evolve, with companies required to navigate distinctions between products falling under the Ayurveda Aahara food route and those regulated as AYUSH products, alongside longer approval timelines for novel ingredients. The company maintains FSSAI-compliant systems, proactive label governance and detailed documentation and specifications to respond to regulatory changes. Tahira said the company's analytical and traceability infrastructure also provides a strong foundation for adapting to tighter requirements. With India's traditional medicine ecosystem attracting growing global attention, she believes the move towards clearer and more evidence-driven regulation will benefit companies that have invested in scientific validation, quality systems and traceability.
