The Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) has invited member companies to identify pharma and medical devices products they can supply and share indicative prices to facilitate potential export opportunities with Argentina. India’s pharmaceutical exporters will now have an opportunity to supply medicines, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), medical devices and disposables to Argentina’s north-western province of Tucumán, following discussions between the Indian Ambassador to Argentina and the province’s Governor and Health Minister.
According to a communication received by Pharmexcil, the Ambassador of India to Argentina has expressed interest in promoting exports of Indian pharmaceutical products and medical supplies to the South American country.
During a recent meeting with the Governor and Health Minister of Tucumán, the Ambassador held discussions on potential cooperation in the healthcare sector. Following these meetings, the provincial authorities shared a list of medicines and medical devices required in the region.
Pharmexcil director general Raja Bhanu has informed member companies about the opportunity and requested interested exporters to review the product requirements and indicate the items they can supply, along with indicative prices.
The initiative aims to connect Indian pharmaceutical and medical technology manufacturers with potential demand in Argentina, while helping the provincial authorities identify suitable suppliers for their healthcare requirements. The product list is intended to help companies assess the scope for supplying medicines, APIs, medical devices and disposables based on their manufacturing capabilities and commercial terms.
Interested companies have been asked to contact the Embassy of India in Buenos Aires directly with their product details and indicative pricing. They may send their responses to Ms. Poonam Tirkey, Second Secretary (P&C), Embassy of India, at pol.buenos@mea.gov.in.
The initiative provides Indian exporters with an avenue to explore business opportunities in Argentina through engagement with the Indian diplomatic mission and regional healthcare authorities. Companies will need to assess the requested products, applicable regulatory requirements and commercial feasibility before pursuing potential supplies.
The list of medicines includes azathioprine, leflunomide, methylprednisolone, methotrexate, mycophenolate mofetil, abatacept, adalimumab, anifrolumab, baricitinib, belimumab, certolizumab pegol, etanercept, ixekizumab, rituximab, tocilizumab and upadacitinib are used to treat autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and psoriasis.
The list also includes Bosentan which treats pulmonary arterial hypertension, denosumab treats osteoporosis, and nintedanib treats pulmonary fibrosis. Thioctic acid and pregabalin are used for neuropathic pain, cilostazol for peripheral arterial disease, and fenofibrate and rosuvastatin for lipid disorders and high cholesterol. Gliclazide, glimepiride, metformin, teneligliptin and pioglitazone are used to treat type 2 diabetes. NPH insulin, insulin glargine, insulin glulisine, insulin aspart and insulin degludec provide blood glucose control in diabetes. Glucagon treats severe hypoglycaemia, while blood glucose meters and continuous glucose monitors support diabetes monitoring.
