The Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) has invited applications from its member companies for the Outstanding Export Performance Awards for the financial year 2024-25. The awards, instituted in 2009 to recognise the export achievements of Indian pharmaceutical companies across multiple segments, will be presented on September 7, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
Member exporters who have renewed their membership for 2024-25 can submit their nominations along with supporting documents by August 5, 2026, following which the applications will be evaluated by the Pharmexcil Award Committee.
The Outstanding Export Performance Awards are aimed at recognising the export performance of Pharmexcil member companies across various sectors of the pharmaceutical industry while encouraging sustained growth in India's pharmaceutical exports. Since their inception in 2009, the awards have been presented annually, with the previous edition recognising export performance for the financial year 2023-24.
The council has invited nominations under several categories covering different segments of the pharmaceutical industry. These include all round export performance, API/bulk drugs, formulations, excipients, bio-pharma, veterinary products, surgicals, contract research and manufacturing, and merchant exporters. Pharmexcil has also stated that multiple levels of recognition may be considered within individual categories depending on the number of nominations received.
Apart from the regular export categories, Pharmexcil has also announced a number of special awards intended to recognise specific segments of the industry.
The Women Entrepreneur Award is open to companies where women hold a substantial ownership stake, nearly half of the shareholding, while also leading the organisation. Eligible companies are expected to have women occupying key positions in areas such as international marketing, human resources and production. Applicants must furnish the prescribed information under the specified section of the application form, duly certified by the company's company secretary or chartered accountant. Pharmexcil has clarified that applications without such certification will not be considered.
The SME Export Award is intended for companies with their own manufacturing facilities and an export turnover of Rs. 250 crore or below during the financial year 2024-25. To encourage smaller manufacturers, separate awards have also been proposed for companies with export turnover of Rs. 100 crore and below in the categories of bulk drugs and drug intermediates, as well as formulations and biologicals.
Pharmexcil has also invited nominations for the Export Startup Award. Manufacturing companies engaged in bulk drugs, drug intermediates, formulations, biologicals and surgical products that fall under the council's panels are eligible, provided they are recognised as startups by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), ministry of commerce and industry. Eligible companies must have completed exports during the three financial years 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25, and their DPIIT recognition certificate should remain valid throughout this period. Applicants are required to submit the Certificate of Recognition issued by DPIIT along with their nominations.
Regional Awards will also be considered for companies demonstrating export performance in specific international regions. Applicants seeking recognition in this category are required to provide consolidated export sales figures for bulk drugs, drug intermediates, formulations and biologicals across the specified regions for the three financial years ending 2024-25, in accordance with the regional classification prescribed in the application format.
Pharmexcil has asked interested member companies to submit self-nominations along with audited balance sheets for the financial years 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25 using the prescribed Excel application format without any modifications. The completed electronic application must be emailed to stats@pharmexcil.com with a copy marked to awards@pharmexcil.com. In addition, applicants are required to send physical copies of the application along with the supporting audited financial documents to Pharmexcil's office at Aditya Trade Centre, Ameerpet, Hyderabad.
According to the council, only members who have renewed their Pharmexcil membership for the year 2024-25 will be eligible to apply. Applications received on or before August 5, 2026, will be forwarded to the Pharmexcil Award Committee, which will evaluate the nominations and recommend the winners based on the selection guidelines framed by the council.
